Agile Teams Enhance Individual Identity
Agile teams should encourage the talent of each individual.

The Agile & Business Blog recently covered the effects of Agile teamwork on top performing individuals. Some productive employees push back on Scrum teamwork for fear that they will lose their individual identities.
According to blogger Joe Little, “In a real and good team, the opposite occurs. We each become able to become more of who we are.” A few ways that teams allow for individual growth include:
- “We learn faster.“
- “We can be more honest.”
- “We can make mistakes and admit to them. “
- “We can learn faster from these mistakes.”
- “We can enjoy our colleagues, whom we come to know as more complete people.”
Scrum does not rely on “collectivism” and does not necessitate that people lose their identity, writes Little. In fact, a great Scrum team allows each person to use “his or her unique abilities to be creative.”
