Blogging Boosts Brain Power

Whether you wax poetic, delve deeply into social issues or simply banter about business, blogging makes you and your employees smarter, according to consultant Joan Stewart of The Publicity Hound.

In fact, Stewart suggests that there are seven ways that blogging makes employees smarter. These include:

  • Fact-checking is essential since a blogger is often held accountable for their words. The more an employee researches for a blog entry, the more they understand the topic and your company.
  • A large part of blogging is the inclusion of outside links. A blogger must filter out the junk and by doing so; they will likely uncover a wealth of new information on the topic at hand.
  • Blogging requires employees to communicate the company’s message repeatedly. Repetition leads to understanding and better informed employees.
  • Comments, complaints and reader input will improve a blogger’s understanding of the issues at hand, and may even alert them to product/customer service issues.
