Infusing Feeling into Social Media…Again

Marketing has changed.

It’s not about what you say anymore, as much as it about what people say about you. This isn’t more evident anywhere than in the social media realm, where people talk, talk and talk. To each other, to you and to whoever is willing to listen.

The crux of this article by Brian Solis is that it’s important to put down the “marketing cape” and to just be yourself. This may seem obvious, but if you’re trying to reach people, you need approach them as a person. And as well-funded social media campaigns fail at the highest levels (a Wal-Mart venture comes to mind), it’s no wonder, because many suit-and-tie executives fail to grasp the faults of their impersonal attempts.

If you’re thinking about social media, remember who you’re trying to reach.
