Open-E Partners with Lifeboat

BOSTON, MA – Open-E, Inc., a leading developer of innovative storage management software, announced today that its premiere Data Storage Server (DSS(TM)) IP-Storage operating system will expand its increasing presence in the North American market through a partnership with Lifeboat Distribution, a leading specialty software distributor for virtualization, security, application and network infrastructure.

Open-E’s high-in-demand, enterprise class storage software solution will boost Lifeboat’s solution set by enabling critical capabilities for data protection, SAN/NAS migration and disaster recovery.

A wide base of North American users may now cost-effectively and quickly add storage to an existing network, consolidate storage and backups for multiple servers, as well as centralize storage management through the DSS solution. With enterprise level innovations at competitive prices, Open-E’s DSS will also allow Lifeboat’s customer base to provide snapshot capabilities, backup and recovery, virtualization and volume replication – all with virtually any connectivity.

DSS is an all-in-one, fourth generation OS software for centralized IP-storage management, combining full NAS and iSCSI SAN functionality. The solution offers outstanding price-performance, massive data throughput rates, enhanced manageability, superior reliability and increased productivity for a variety of applications.

In addition, DSS supports a wide variety of hardware RAID platforms from the industry’s leading names. The solution’s versatility also allows the user to combine NAS systems with iSCSI SAN systems, and allows for the teaming of multiple Network Interface Controllers, including Gigabit Ethernet, 10 Gigabit Ethernet, Fibre Channel and Infiniband. Furthermore, a built-in virus protection system protects the system and its rich feature set without recurring subscription costs.

“We are very pleased to partner with Lifeboat,” said Krzysztof Franek, president and CEO of Open-E. “Lifeboat’s extensive reseller base will enhance our rapidly growing North American market presence, assist us in gaining penetration into previously untouched market segments and allow them to benefit from the strength of our established storage management solutions.”
