AtTask Bolsters Board of Directors with Strategic Appointments

AtTask, an industry leader in Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) Enterprise Work Management solutions, announced the following new members to its Board of Directors:

  • Richard Allen, former CFO of JD Edwards (acquired by Oracle, Inc.)
  • Susan Carstensen, former COO of RightNow Technologies (acquired by Oracle, Inc.)
  • John Avirett, Principal at Greenspring Associates

These new members will join the current AtTask board members:

  • Scott Johnson, Chairman and Founder of AtTask
  • Firas Raouf, Partner at OpenView Venture Partners
  • Bill Conroy, former CEO of Initiate (acquired by IBM, Inc.)
  • Eric Morgan, CEO of AtTask

“I am very excited to have Rick, John and Susan join our board and know that they will each contribute significantly to our success as we scale AtTask as a leading Enterprise SaaS application player,” said Morgan. “We believe the expertise and insight they bring around growing and developing software and SaaS companies to reach $250 million in revenue will help us achieve that milestone as well.”

Richard Allen joins AtTask’s Board of Directors with more than 25 years of leadership experience in technology both as an executive and board member. Allen was formally the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of JD Edwards (acquired by Oracle, Inc.). He also previously served on the Board of Directors of RightNow Technologies (acquired by Oracle, Inc.), AdvancedMD (acquired by ADP), Red Prairie, WTS, Inc. (acquired by Velocity), and HireRight, Inc. Allen is currently a board member with Quantros, Inc., Insight Enterprise, Inc., and Therapeutic Research Center.

“I feel privileged to join this incredibly intelligent and passionate team and to work closely with Eric and the Board during the next phase of AtTask’s growth and innovation,” said Allen.

Susan Carstensen joins AtTask’s Board of Directors with more than 25 years of business leadership experience, most recently from RightNow Technologies (acquired in 2011 by Oracle, Inc.), where she served in various roles, including Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Chief Operating Officer (COO) and SVP, Customer Experience. Carstensen also served on the Board of Directors of LiveOffice (acquired by Symantec). Prior to RightNow, Carstensen was CFO at Powerhouse Technologies, Inc., and held management positions at Martin Marietta Astronautics Group (acquired by Lockheed Martin) and Ernst & Young LLP.

“AtTask reminds me of the opportunity we had at RightNow to be a leader in a highly valuable and underserved market,” said Carstensen. “AtTask is focused on solving problems that every enterprise team has and nobody else solves, which makes this a very unique and big opportunity in the market.”

John Avirett joins the AtTask’s Board of Directors as a Principal at Greenspring Associates, where he oversees the due diligence of fund and direct investments as well as management of the Analyst Program. Prior to joining the global venture capital investment firm, Avirett was an Associate at Zurich Financial Services. Avirett is currently a board observer on Turn and Zulily, and is responsible for the firm’s investment in Lithium Technologies.

“Greenspring Associates invested in AtTask at a tremendously exciting time,” said Avirett. “I look forward to joining the Board to help deliver on AtTask’s market opportunity.”

Greenspring Associates led AtTask’s recent $17 million growth capital round (see announcement) and has been an existing shareholder of AtTask since December 2009. The firm has a proven track record of investing in direct investments and SaaS businesses, including ExactTarget, Lithium Technologies and Kareo. Greenspring Associates’ industry experience and guidance will further solidify AtTask’s leadership position in the project and work management industries.
