Senior Network Engineer

We are looking for a talented senior network engineer who will be responsible for ensuring the maximum possible service availability and performance for our customer facing services and internal network. In this role, you will be directly responsible for Zipwhip’s carrier network integration and hybrid cloud environment. You’ll need to own the design, evaluation, procurement, implementation, ongoing maintenance and operational support of all network infrastructure components. You will work with technical operations and engineering to solve business problems in a reliable and scalable manner, automating as much as possible along the way.


Responsible for management and optimization of all network services (LAN/WAN/VOIP)
Design, implement and administer LAN/WAN components including (but not limited to) Internet services, firewalls, routers, switches, VPN’s, Wi-Fi and security systems in support of a global enterprise architecture
Provide design and support for interconnectivity between multiple highly available data centers and highly resilient connectivity between all sites
Performance and capacity planning: audit, monitor, analyze and reconfigure network environments for performance improvements and future scalability
Conduct LAN/WAN analysis to ensure optimal performance and security of the network
Collaborate with engineering teams to maintain availability and performance of the network
Develop, maintain, and improve network security policies and procedures
Maintain a secure environment by appropriately addressing any newly discovered vulnerabilities
Network troubleshooting and fault analysis; hardware/software troubleshooting and repair
Monitor, analyze, and resolve network incidents

Bachelor’s degree in an associated area, or equivalent experience, is required
6+ years of relevant work experience
Experience managing load balancers including F5 and Nginx
Network automation experience
Deep understanding of network protocols and packet level troubleshooting (tcpump, Wireshark, etc.)
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent required
Network related issues and aspects such as routing, switching, load balancing, kernel level management, and handling of network tools, etc. need to be understood clearly and completely
Software defined network (SDN) experience a plus
OpenContrail experience a major plus
Familiar with vulnerability testing methodologies
Experience working within established Service Level Agreements (SLA)
Thorough understanding of network and routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, STP, HSRP, VRRP and ACLs
Must have knowledge of and in-depth experience with LAN and WAN architectures including Ethernet, T1, E1, DS-3, OC-3 & OC-12 circuits
Experience designing, implementing, supporting network and firewall solutions including IDS/IPS
Experience working in a compliance environment (SOC, ISO, PCI, etc.)
Experience with scripting technologies is a plus (e.g. any of Ruby, Python, Perl, shell scripting)
