CCHIT, Drummond Certify First EHRs

Austin, Texas-based Drummond Group in recent days has certified specific versions of three ambulatory EHRs. They include Complete EHR certification for Salt Lake City-based ChartLogic Inc.; and EHR Modules certification to ifa united i-tech inc. of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and QRS Healthcare Solutions in Knoxville, Tenn.

“The Certification Commission on Health Information Technology has certified 33 specific versions of inpatient or ambulatory EHRs. Twenty of the products are Complete EHRs and 13 are EHR Modules certified to meet applicable meaningful use criteria.

Chicago-based CCHIT to date has certified two Complete EHRs for hospitals, from Epic Systems Corp. and Prognosis Health Information Systems. The remaining Complete EHRs certified are ambulatory and from ABEL Medical, Allscripts, Aprima, athenahealth, CureMD, DocPatientNetwork, Epic Systems, GE Healthcare, gloStream, Intuitive Medical, Medical Communication Systems, Medical Informatics Engineering, Meditab, NeoDeck, NextGen, Nortec, Pulse Systems and SuccessEHS.

CCHIT-certified EHR Modules come from Allscripts (2), eClinicalWorks, Health Care Systems, NexTech Systems, nextEMR, PeriGen, Sammy Systems, T-System Technologies, Universal EMR Solutions, Vision Infonet, WellCentive and Wellsoft. The HHS Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology on August 30 announced Drummond and CCHIT as its first authorized testing and certification bodies. ONC on Sept. 20 announced a third authorized body, InfoGard Laboratories of San Luis Obispo, Calif., and indicated more entities could be selected. InfoGard has not yet announced its initial certifications.
