Central Desktop Continues to Grow Executive Team, Adding Mark Smialowicz as Chief Operating Officer
Central Desktop, a leading cloud-based collaboration platform company, today announced the appointment of Mark Smialowicz as chief operating officer.
Smialowicz will be responsible for leading the company’s daily operations and business strategy, to which he brings more than 20 years of experience in the high-tech and finance industries. In his new position on Central Desktop’s executive team, Mark will lead the company’s efforts to further evolve its business strategy and drive its next phase of growth.
“Having successfully led a variety of companies, Mark has proven himself a decisive leader who has the right combination of drive, experience and talent, which positions him perfectly to head our operations and ultimately enhance how we serve our customers.”
“Mark has an extraordinary track record in leading technology companies to success and accelerating business growth,” said Isaac Garcia, CEO and co-founder of Central Desktop. “Having successfully led a variety of companies, Mark has proven himself a decisive leader who has the right combination of drive, experience and talent, which positions him perfectly to head our operations and ultimately enhance how we serve our customers.”
Recently, Smialowicz was the COO and CFO at IT analytics pioneer Integrien, where his actions and leadership were key in the company being acquired for over $100 million by software giant VMware last year. Prior to Integrien, he was COO and CFO of data-driven sourcing advisor, RampRate, and was instrumental in the rapid adoption of the company’s proprietary ratings index by major corporations. Previously, Smialowicz was responsible for the managed services unit of McLeodUSA, a facilities-based telecommunications provider, and was instrumental in the successful sale of that division along with several other strategic merger and acquisition deals. He also served as COO and CFO of managed services provider, Devise Associates, which he subsequently merged with VPN pioneer, Intelispan, later to be acquired by McLeodUSA. Smialowicz also serves as an active angel investor and advisor to several early-stage and venture-backed companies.
“I am honored to take on this key role during such an exciting time in Central Desktop’s evolution as a top player in the collaboration space,” said Smialowicz. “The company has a unique team of visionaries that strives to provide the best experience possible for customers and delivers a product that enables businesses to centralize the way their teams collaborate better than ever before. I look forward to helping Central Desktop continue to build on its success as a clear market leader.”
