Central Desktop Recognized by Forrester Research, Inc.

Central Desktop, a leading SaaS-based social technology platform for next-generation business teams today announced that it was recognized in Forrester Research’s August 2009 report, “The Forrester Wave™: Collaboration Platforms, Q3 2009.”

Amongst the companies evaluated by Forrester Research, Inc., Central Desktop was the only pure software-as-a-service (SaaS) offering with a focus on small and medium businesses, as well as enterprise departments. Central Desktop was officially cited as a Contender poised to challenge traditional vendors in the marketplace.

“As the only pure SaaS vendor included in the report, we are proud to be recognized and compared with such established market leaders,” said Isaac Garcia, CEO and co-founder of Central Desktop. “We believe that as the collaboration software and social technology markets continue to mature, vendors like Central Desktop who are dedicated to a pure SaaS platform will emerge as the preferred method of delivery to the Mid-Market in this highly competitive landscape.”

Central Desktop continues to execute on its social technology platform strategy with recent additions such as Status Updates with direct links to Twitter and Facebook (microblogging) and the ability to share folders across workspaces (for easier content management).

According to August 2009 The Forrester Wave™: Collaboration Platforms, Q3 2009 Report, “Traditional collaboration vendors have recognized and reacted to the unique capabilities of social networking and are actively building these capabilities into their offerings. Lastly, traditional content management vendors continue to extend into collaboration, building out social capabilities as well.”

The Forrester Wave report also highlights knowledge worker efficiency as one of the benefits of collaborative platforms: “By providing users with a single place to store and collaborate on content, collaborative platforms remove inefficiencies associated with collaboration through email.”

Central Desktop was among the select companies that Forrester invited to participate in its August 2009 Forrester Wave report, The Forrester Wave™: Collaboration Platforms, Q3 2009. In this evaluation, Central Desktop’s top scores were for Team collaboration platform, Event logs, monitoring, and reporting and Cross-platform support.

The Forrester Wave Report is a product-based evaluation of top collaboration platform vendors across 66 criteria in the areas of current offerings, strategy and market presence.
