CSC and Skytap Team Up

CSC, a global leader in providing technology-enabled business solutions and services, has selected Skytap to power its CloudLab offering, a recently launched cloud-based development and test service delivered in a software-as-a-service (SaaS (NewsAlert)) model. This deal will help commercial and government customers accelerate their transition to the cloud with the goal of achieving greater agility, operational efficiencies and business productivity. CloudLab is available immediately via the CSC (NewsAlert) Gateway, an e-commerce portal for hosting and cloud services.

In a press release, Siki Giunta, vice president, Cloud Computing and Software Services of CSC, said, “Cloud computing is a disruptive technology that delivers new levels of efficiencies to today’s organizations. To further demonstrate CSC’s domain expertise and operational excellence, we wanted to introduce a solution along with our multiple platform application transformation offerings that could accelerate our clients’ migration to the cloud. We’re eager to see the results our clients will achieve through this partnership.”

Following are the features of CloudLab:

–It provides rapid, on-demand access to a precisely configured, highly scalable and secure environment that accelerates development, maximizes productivity, avoids capital expense, and lowers development cost.

–It supports a secure and efficient application development lifecycle by eliminating the wait for physical machines and the budgeting processes associated with procuring new equipment.

–It saves time typically spent setting up and tearing down test environments allowing for reduced cycle times and managed costs.

–CloudLab can also be used by sales for enabling ad hoc capacity for product demonstrations or training organizations to quickly ramp up resources for large online training initiatives.

Scott Roza, CEO of Skytap, said, “Being selected by CSC, a global leader, is a strong validation to Skytap’s cloud innovation, solutions expertise, market traction and proven track record in cloud automation. CSC has created a strong global footprint, achieved the highest level of operational excellence, and delivered unprecedented results to clients spanning Fortune 1000 customers, government and defense agencies. We look forward to CSC leveraging Skytap to accelerate their clients’ journey to the cloud.”

Skytap was recently in news when it had launched Skytap Groups, a new capability that enables companies to model their organizational structures quickly and easily within Skytap.
