Hospitals Across the Country Select Prognosis HIS Enterprise Clinical and Financial System

Several hospitals handed a resolute vote of confidence over to Prognosis Health Information Systems by selecting its enterprise clinical and financial system.

Healthmark Regional Medical Center, Millford Memorial Hospital, Beaver Valley Hospital and Kit Carson Memorial Hospital plan on leveraging the solution to provide cost-effective quality care while also meeting the meaningful use requirements associated with the government’s electronic health records (EHR) incentive program.

“Prognosis HIS understands how we operate and is providing a system that truly supports our needs. We searched for a long time to find a vendor that could comprehend our workflow and then implement their technology to enhance what we do,” says Gerald Beard, COO at Healthmark, a 50-bed hospital in DeFuniak Springs, Fla. “We want to move forward with more advanced technology, but we also want to make sure that we won’t have to screech to a halt and shut down our operations in the implementation process.”

To take this step, Healthmark is implementing Prognosis HIS’ enterprise solution, which includes an EHR and a patient and general accounting system. Built upon cutting-edge architecture that offers local and cloud-based implementation options, the solution is designed to improve efficiency and eliminate the cumbersome manual transfer of data between disparate systems.

In addition, the system helps providers overcome the long-held financial and operational barriers to EHR success. For example, 100 percent of eligible Prognosis HIS clients have achieved Stage 1 meaningful use requirements, meaning they have already received or are set to receive incentive funds under the HITECH provisions of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

“The fact that Prognosis provides an online application along with vendor support to meet meaningful use played a big part in our selection,” Beard says. “We also know that Prognosis has a proven methodology that has already helped many hospitals meet meaningful use and that provides us with so much confidence to move forward into the digital age.”

The hospital is planning to implement the ChartAccess® comprehensive EHR by October and attest to the HITECH meaningful use requirements by the end of the year. The financial system will also be implemented this fall.

Millford Memorial Hospital (Utah), a 23-bed critical assess facility, and Beaver Valley Hospital (Utah), a 49-bed hospital, entered the health care IT market to replace the providers’ financial systems but ultimately moved forward with Prognosis HIS because of the integrated system’s comprehensive capabilities.

“The real driving force for this was that we needed a seamless financial system and EHR that can truly make it easy from registration to getting a bill out the door and everything in between,” says Scott Macdonald, an IT director who is part of an executive team that serves both hospitals.

“We searched for several years to find a system that could cost-efficiently meet all our department needs. The fact that Prognosis could cost-effectively provide an advanced billing system and an EHR as well as a seamless connection between the two solutions really resonated with us. We want to seamlessly move back and forth between registration, clinical orders and billing without using paper, and this comprehensive system will enable us to so.”

Kit Carson Memorial Hospital, a 19-bed critical access facility in Burlington, Colo., also selected Prognosis HIS’ enterprise solution.

Ramsey Evans, president and CEO of Prognosis HIS, points to the company’s ongoing growth as “evidence of the fact that Prognosis is in the right place and is headed in the right direction.

“We set out to provide something different, ‘disruptive’ technology that makes it possible for rural and community hospitals to enter the digital age. The fact that rural hospitals across the country are recognizing that our innovative solutions and approach can help them provide quality care, control costs and meet meaningful use requirements simply proves that we are fulfilling our mission. We are happy to partner with these hospitals as we work together to move health care forward by leveraging advanced information technology.”
