OpenView Hosts Meet and Greet for Boston VCs and Entrepreneurs and Forum on M&A Strategies for Portfolio Companies
This week Boston venture capital firm OpenView Venture Partners hosted two events for portfolio companies and entrepreneurs alike.
Tuesday evening over 100 entrepreneurs, industry experts, reporters, and VCs joined the OpenView Venture Partners team on its roof deck in the “Innovation District”. Once a quarter OpenView opens its doors to the community to host an evening of networking, and community building.
“Thanks again for including us in the event. My co-founder and I found the event very useful. We made some great local connections with other entrepreneurs in the area,” stated Keith Ballinger, CEO of Ravid.
Russ Garland, reporter for Dow Jones added, “It was an excellent party. Lots of interesting people and a fine view.”

The meet and greet was also a welcoming reception to OpenView portfolio company CEOs, founders and CFOs slated to participate in the firm’s quarterly forum on mergers and acquisitions strategy held July 13, 2011. Michael O’Hare, Managing Director and head of M&A; Christopher Hieb, Managing Director; and Roger Knight, Senior Associate of Pacific Crest Securities and David Lipkin, Partner at Morrison & Foerster led interactive sessions for members of OpenView’s portfolio companies on the sale of privately-held companies to strategic buyers. Topics covered included surveying the M&A landscape; positioning your company to be bought, not sold; M&A process responsibilities; negotiating an LOI; and negotiating the sale of a venture-backed technology company.
“Over the past year many of our portfolio companies have been approached by potential suitors. We organized this forum to provide the management teams with a basic framework and give them the tools to effectively manage a process,” said Adam Marcus, Managing Director at OpenView.
