Exinda Earns High Marks in Network World's Clear Choice WAN Optimization Test

Exinda, a global provider of next-generation WAN Optimization and Network Control solutions, has received exceptional scores in a definitive head to head technology comparison.

The comprehensive test was conducted by Network World, the premier provider of information, intelligence and insight for Network and IT Executives. The results of the comparison show Exinda attaining a second place ranking ahead of five other notable WAN Optimization vendors including Cisco, Silver Peak and Blue Coat.

Seven vendors were evaluated across six categories: Performance, Traffic Management, Visibility, Enterprise Features, Flexibility and Ease of Use, and IPv6. Tests were administered for 5 common types of enterprise WAN traffic: encrypted and unencrypted web traffic, email, Citrix Xen Desktop and Voice over IP. Exinda ranked first place or tied for first place in four of the six dimensions including Traffic Management, Visibility and Ease of Use.

Exinda was called out for its innovative approach to WAN Optimization. “If you’re looking for innovation, you’ll be as impressed, as we were with the Exinda Networks x800-series,” said Joel Snyder, a Network World Test Alliance Partner, who conducted the comparison. “Exinda is clearly thinking beyond the basics to what the next generation of network optimization products should look like.”

Exinda’s ability to provide powerful insights and control for users and applications was noted as well. Snyder observed that the Exinda x800-series offered one of “the strongest and broadest visibility feature sets,” and highlighted the appliance’s ability to drill down on data from IP address, application and user name, with Exinda’s Windows Active Directory integration.

Finally, Exinda was praised for its sophisticated traffic management capabilities which give network managers the ability to orchestrate users, applications and bandwidth allocation on the network. “Exinda’s heritage is as a traffic management company, which made it natural that it would excel in this part of our test … Network managers who think that traffic management is important will want to focus on Exinda,” Snyder said.

Greg Veres, Vice President of Product Management at Exinda expressed the company’s appreciation for the recognition. “We are very pleased to receive such a strong endorsement from one of the industry’s most reputable sources. Our high scores in Network World’s Clear Choice test confirm the power of our technology that over 3,200 Exinda customers rely on every day. It reinforces our belief that there is a need to move beyond basic optimization capabilities to orchestrate all aspects of the WAN environment.”

The complete results of the WAN Optimization Vendor Test can be found at NetworkWorld.com.

OpenView Venture Partners, an expansion-stage venture capital firm focused on providing technology companies with deep operational support, today welcomes enterprise software expert Dev Ittycheria as the firm’s third Managing Director.

Ittycheria joins the firm after a successful track record of building and scaling world-class software companies as a founder, CEO, senior executive, investor, and board member. He will concentrate on helping identify and invest in the best expansion-stage technology companies.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dev to the OpenView team,” said Scott Maxwell, OpenView’s Founder and Senior Managing Director. “His strong background in entrepreneurship, combined with his deep operational experience and his knowledge of cloud, SaaS, and enabling IT infrastructure, will make Dev a very valuable addition to the firm.”

Prior to joining OpenView, Ittycheria was a venture partner at Greylock Partners, where he spent time learning the venture business at the leading early stage venture capital firm in Silicon Valley. Earlier, Ittycheria was the president of BMC Software, where he and his team radically transformed a maturing business to outperform the competition on all meaningful financial metrics. Before that, as the co-founder, president, and CEO, Ittycheria built BladeLogic, a next-generation systems management company, into one of the fastest-growing enterprise software companies of the last decade. The company went public in 2007 and was acquired by BMC in 2008. Ittycheria was also previously a co-founder and CEO of one of the first venture-backed cloud computing companies. In addition to identifying new investments at OpenView, Ittycheria will also leverage his operational and leadership skills to help the firm scale for the next level of growth.

“I’m very excited to join OpenView,” said Ittycheria. “It’s a dynamic firm that has done a terrific job of differentiating itself in the industry because of its sharp focus on expansion-stage technology companies and unique team of full-time, value-add consultants. I believe OpenView is extremely well positioned to dominate an important investment category over the coming years.”

Ittycheria’s arrival continues the ongoing expansion of OpenView’s investment team. In August, the firm also welcomed Mackey Craven as an Associate from Bessemer Venture Partners, followed by Blake Bartlett, who joined as a Vice President from Battery Venture Partners in November. The team’s growth underscores the firm’s strong belief in the future of enterprise SaaS businesses.

Kareo Expands Leadership Team to Support Rapid Growth

Kareo, Inc., a leading provider of cloud-based medical office software and services for small medical practices, announced today that David Mitzenmacher has joined the company as Vice President of Customer Success and Nitin Somalwar has joined the company as Vice President of Engineering.

Both roles are new to Kareo and mutually focused on building an experience for medical practices that seamlessly combines Kareo’s technology and services, reinforcing the company’s role as the independent physician’s trusted partner for EHR, practice management, and medical billing solutions.

“We’re very fortunate to expand our leadership team with two individuals who bring extensive relevant experience coupled with an unwavering focus on building truly outstanding customer solutions,” said Dan Rodrigues, CEO and founder of Kareo. “Both David and Nitin will immediately contribute to our vision of enabling small practice success through Kareo’s delivery of intuitive, affordable, and well-supported solutions.”

Mitzenmacher comes to Kareo with an impressive track record of building customer-centric organizations and will be responsible for customer experience and support. Most recently, Mitzenmacher served as Chief Customer Officer of Volusion where he built an award-winning “out-of-this-world” customer care organization. His efforts helped establish Volusion as the leader in cloud-based e-commerce software for small businesses. Prior to Volusion, he was a key customer support executive at Rackspace, an industry leader in hosting and cloud services known for its highly differentiated “fanatical” support.

“Increasingly, private practice success is about building and managing provider-patient relationships,” saidDavid Mitzenmacher. “I look forward to applying my customer experience and support expertise to help Kareo provide products and services that allow providers to focus more on patient care than on the demands of practice administration.”

Somalwar brings unparalleled expertise in product development, engineering leadership, and the building of scalable technology platforms. He comes to Kareo from Flurry, a fast-growing, venture-backed company providing the market-leading mobile analytics software. Prior to Flurry, he was at Castlight Health, which was named #1 on the 2011 Wall Street Journals list of top 50 venture-backed companies. Somalwar also held key engineering leadership positions at Salesforce.com, Quest Software, and Pictage.

“I’m energized by the opportunity to contribute to the significant growth and advancement of Kareo and its customers,” explains Nitin Somalwar. “I look forward to expanding Kareo’s world-class engineering team, extending a technology platform that enables the rapid development of cloud-based products, and delivering the innovative features and functionality that our private practice customers need to prosper.”

Enabling the success of Kareo’s independent practice customers is the key driver behind expanding the company’s leadership team. Small practices face many challenges in today’s healthcare environment from Meaningful Use and ICD-10 to new reimbursement models and increasing patient expectations. Mitzenmacher and Somalwar will play key roles in helping Kareo support private practices as a trusted partner that can help them manage through the uncertainty of the current healthcare environment.

Intronis Unveils Fall 2013 Software Release, Reports Sales and Storage Growth Are Exceeding Expectations

Intronis, Inc., a provider of world-class cloud backup and recovery solutions for the IT channel, announced today that its Fall ’13 Release is now generally available to channel partners worldwide. Additionally, Intronis reported it is on track to exceed annual sales growth expectations by double digits, and the volume of storage being managed by its channel partners has grown significantly year over year.

The new Intronis Fall ’13 Release enables channel partners to more easily scale their recovery-as-a-service offerings and introduces support for clustered environments. These improvements make it possible for channel partners to back up, restore and manage virtual machine host clusters under one data storage solution.

Additional feature enhancements include:

  • Expanded VMware backup and recovery capabilities, allowing for faster backups and user-defined unique destination hosts for multiple virtual machines within a single backup set.
  • The ability to create and update recovery VMs that reside on a host in a cluster.
  • An improved user interface that features a newly redesigned tree hierarchy to easily display large folders and create or restore backup sets in minutes.
  • Overall advancements to the partner web portal, as well as the usability, functionality, and reliability of the solution.

“These new features and functionality introduced in our Fall ’13 Release complete our imaging solution for virtual machines and enable our channel partners to capitalize on the increasing market demand for cloud-based data storage by delivering a more robust backup and recovery service to their customers that also provides total local availability,” says Chuck DeLouis, vice president, product management, Intronis.

Over the last three years Intronis has seen the average storage usage for its channel partners grow by 540 percent. The year-over-year storage growth signals not only an increasing demand for cloud-based storage solutions worldwide, but a raised awareness among Intronis’ channel partners regarding the importance of including backup and recovery as part of the total managed IT solution.

“We’ve seen record growth over the last three quarters within our business and attribute this success to the hard work of our partners and associates, as well as the recent innovations in our technology including QuickSpin for local availability and our VMware clustering support,” says Intronis CEO Rick Faulk. “Together with our partners, we are addressing the market’s growing need for an advanced, business-minded, cloud-based backup and recovery solution that will do exactly what it’s supposed to do — protect, store and recover a business’ data anytime, anywhere.”

Additional growth catalysts leading to Intronis’ strong performance include the company’s channel-friendly, white-labeled sales strategy for its BDR solution, which enables VARs and MSPs to brand Intronis’ solution as their own, and its targeted approach to SMB and vertical markets. Intronis’ growing market penetration within the healthcare vertical specifically is due in part to its Business Associates’ agreement, which works to ensure that Intronis’ channel partners meet HIPAA compliance mandates. Intronis is also seeing success within other data-heavy verticals such as finance and legal.

“Intronis is 100 percent committed to growing its business by helping us grow ours,” says Michael Andrea, principal at Parallel Edge, an MSP in Wayne, Pa. “We’ve seen continued growth in our business since working with Intronis and attribute one of our biggest deals in 2013 and a new growth market in 2014 to Intronis’ sales team. We wouldn’t be in the finance vertical if it wasn’t for Intronis bringing the opportunity to our doorstep.”

Intronis’ success continues to be recognized throughout the industry. Earlier this year the company ranked #46 on the third-annual Talkin’ Cloud Top 100, which identifies the IT channel’s top 100 CSPs based on metrics such as annual cloud services revenue growth, both in actual dollars and in percentage growth rates. Intronis also earned a number of industry awards in 2013, including being voted one of the best BDR vendors in this year’sChannelPro-SMB Readers’ Choice survey and being named one of the Top 20 Coolest Cloud Storage Vendors by CRN Magazine.
