Skytap Announces New AutoNetworks™ and CloudControl™ Capabilities for Enterprise Hybrid Clouds

Skytap, Inc., the leading provider of self-service cloud automation solutions, today announced the addition of a multi-virtual private network (Multi-VPN) capability to its industry-leading AutoNetworks™ technology.

AutoNetworks is Skytap’s unique software-defined networking capabilities for complex, multi-network, multi-machine environments. With multi-VPN capability, users can create multiple two-way secure connections between their Skytap virtual environments and on-premise servers, or connect a single Skytap environment to multiple geographically distributed on-premise endpoints. Multi-VPN capability provides enterprises with the easiest, fastest, and most flexible way to create secure hybrid clouds.

“In a recent Gartner survey, close to half of respondents believe they will be using hybrid cloud by 2015. To do so, IT architectures and processes will need to change and extend — and the same is true for security capabilities,” said John Pescatore, VP Distinguished Analyst at Gartner. “Now is the time to be planning how to ensure company and customer data can be protected when public and private cloud services are used and also how security policies and architectures can take advantage of cloud delivery to actually increase levels of security.”

“Moving our development and testing environment to Skytap Cloud has accelerated our software release cycles, boosted productivity, and improved quality,” said Keith Weisel, manager of application development at Dendreon Corporation. “The new multi-VPN feature enables us to securely connect multiple locations and teams into Skytap Cloud, providing a secure hybrid cloud solution that is ideal for our application lifecycle management process.”

Multi-VPN is the latest addition to Skytap AutoNetworks, a rich set of functionality that leverages software-defined networking for complex multi-machine cloud environments. AutoNetworks empowers customers with self-service hybrid clouds as well as advanced network creation, management, and security.

  • For hybrid clouds, AutoNetworks offers the self-service creation and management of multi point-to-point VPN connections via IPsec, one-click network connections from environments to VPN tunnels, and self-healing VPN connections via dead peer detection.
  • AutoNetworks also empowers self-service network creation and management for each environment, automatic management of IP addresses for networks within an environment (DHCP), automatic name resolution services for VMs on a network (DNS), and the ability to customize to use external custom name resolution services (custom DNS) for VMs on a network.
  • Lastly, AutoNetworks enables the automatic creation of network-isolated environments; one-click options to expose environments via public IPs and specific ports; one-click network connections between environments within Skytap Cloud using inter-configuration network routing; and the ability to create multiple networks for multi-tier architectures (e.g., database back-end, web front-end).

“Skytap customers are using AutoNetworks to dynamically create over 2,000 networks each day in Skytap Cloud,” said Brian White, vice president of products at Skytap. “Multi-VPN capability delivers on our customers’ desire to easily and flexibly use Skytap Cloud as a secure extension to their on-premise resources, starting with dynamic workloads including development and testing, virtual training, and software demos where the business benefits of moving to the cloud are compelling.”

Introducing CloudControl™ Scheduler

Skytap also announced the availability of Scheduler, a new CloudControl™ feature, which allows customers to automate state change operations of Skytap Cloud configurations and templates. Users can create a schedule by choosing the resource in Skytap Cloud they want to automate, the action to be performed — run, save, suspend, or shut down — and the time the action should take place.

For example, customers can accelerate development and testing workflows by scheduling automated unit and functional tests to run nightly; schedule load tests to run during off-peak hours; or schedule daily access for off-shore testing teams. For virtual training, customers can schedule virtual classroom environments to run on the specific days and hours of a recurring training class calendar, or make sure all Skytap Cloud environments are initiated and suspended at the start and finish of each business day. Once a scheduled action is assigned, Skytap users receive automated e-mail notifications when the task has completed. With the automated resource control capabilities provided by Scheduler, customers can increase productivity by eliminating repetitive and manual tasks.

Skytap CloudControl is a set of unique features that provide enterprises with advanced cloud resource management, automated control, and powerful administration. Scheduler is the latest addition to CloudControl, which also includes the ability for Skytap Cloud administrators to assign resource limit quotas for users; set maximum burstable limits; send automated e-mail notifications as quota limits are approached; assign role-based access privileges for all users; create usage reports; enable users to create clones of complete environments; and save complete environments as point-in-time templates that capture memory state and all network settings.

Prognosis HIS Partners With Health Language to Ease ICD-10 Transition, Satisfy Meaningful Use Stage 2 and Support Interoperability

Prognosis Health Information Systems(Prognosis HIS), the leading provider of an integrated electronic health record (EHR) and financial system enterprise solution for rural and community hospitals, today announced that Health Language, Inc.’s (HLI) Language Engine® (LE) and provider-friendly terminology (PFT) will be integrated into its inpatient and outpatient EHR systems in future releases.

Developed by the global leader in health care terminology management, these tools will streamline physician workflow, documentation and revenue cycle management, as well as ease the transition to ICD-10 and satisfy meaningful use (MU) stage two data mapping provisions.

“We are committed to helping our customers achieve meaningful use attestation, but beyond that we want to equip them to thrive in the emerging digital, pay-for-performance health care environment,” explained Prognosis HIS CEO Ramsey Evans. “We partner with industry leaders that can help us deliver the most user-friendly solutions with robust functionality, configurability and reliability that meet the specific needs of rural and community hospitals, and that’s exactly what our relationship with HLI will accomplish.”

Embedding HLI’s tools into ChartNotes™, Prognosis HIS’ clinical documentation solution, will further enhance its exceptional ease of use and flexibility that already enable individuals with basic computer skills to easily and quickly configure templates to reflect their personal preferences and organizational needs. By incorporating HLI’s data mapping and provider-friendly terminology tools, physicians and other caregivers can continue using their customary descriptions for diagnoses and procedures supplemented by free text. This eliminates the need to learn or look up specific codes, frees physicians and nurses to focus on patient care and eases the transition to ICD-10.

The focus on optimal ease of use and flexibility and ensuring that ChartNotes accommodates physicians and nurses rather than the all-too-common practice of forcing them to conform to a system’s requirements are hallmarks of Prognosis HIS’ product development approach. This continuous focus explains why ChartNotes is popular with physicians and nurses, how 100 percent of Prognosis HIS’ eligible hospital customers have achieved meaningful use, and why the company can achieve a 120-day go-live timetable.

Additional benefits include:

  • Encourages EHR adoption by enhancing physician productivity and streamlining workflow
  • Speeds searches for diagnosis and problem list codes by allowing clinicians to use familiar words and abbreviations
  • Enhances data mining and analytics by automatically mapping preferred terms to the correct standardized codes
  • Meets MU stage two mapping requirements by converting problem list data into SNOMED CT codes
  • Boosts billing efficiency and accuracy by converting clinical terms into the appropriate billing codes
  • Seamlessly maps between ICD-9, SNOMED CT and ICD-10
  • Eliminates productivity and revenue declines that would result if physicians were forced to choose the correct code from ICD-10’s 155,000 options, up from 17,000 items under ICD-9

HLI’s PFT ensures all common clinical expressions, abbreviations and synonyms used by physicians and other clinicians to describe the same conditions and procedures are linked. This simplifies the capture, analysis and exchange of information and provides the interoperability that is essential as new treatment and financial models — such as pay for performance, value-based reimbursement, accountable care organizations, patient-centered medical homes, bundled payments and shared risk arrangements — fuel the need for data-driven business intelligence and reporting mandates. HLI’s LE updates, maps, distributes and provides access to current versions of more than 100 clinical and administrative code sets, including SNOMED, ICD-9, ICD-10, RxNorm and LOINC as well as a hospital’s proprietary content. The LE can also convert unstructured text into coded, structured data for clinical documentation, billing and analytics.

“Organizations that lack the technological resources and infrastructure to adapt to health care’s ongoing transformation will falter under the demands of new care models and industry regulations,” said Brian McDonald, executive vice president of Health Language. “Our partnership with Prognosis HIS is a strong example of how a fully integrated, intuitive EHR system can help providers tackle data sharing and analysis challenges, while positioning them for competitive, long-term growth.”

About Health Language, Inc.

Founded in 2000 and based in Denver, Health Language, Inc. (HLI) provides leading healthcare terminology management solutions and professional services that normalize all data within a healthcare organization into standardized code sets such as ICD-10, SNOMED and LOINC. By establishing a data infrastructure in which disparate information is fully integrated, HLI’s advanced Language Engine (LE) and supporting tools enable healthcare providers and payers worldwide to simplify the management and analysis of critical patient, financial and operational information. This, backed by a team of HIM experts that support the integration process, helps hospitals, health systems and other healthcare organizations to overcome industry challenges such as Meaningful Use, ICD-10 and health information exchange. Prognosis HIS Maintains 100 Percent Meaningful Use Success Rate With 2012 Attestations

Seventeen additional rural and community hospitals have exceeded baseline requirements to complete stage one meaningful use attestation using Prognosis Health Information Systemselectronic health record (EHR).

In October, nine organizations attested meeting criteria for the 90-day reporting period and the remaining attested for the 365-day reporting period. These hospitals joined other organizations to continue Prognosis HIS’ 100 percent meaningful use success rate amongst eligible clients.

The 17 hospitals largely credit Prognosis HIS’ industry-first Meaningful Use Scorecard™ and Meaningful Use Live Stats, which visually track real-time analytical progress of each patient’s care and the hospital’s progress toward achieving the meaningful use objective percentages. A component of Prognosis HIS’ EHR, the scorecard quickly checks off compliance with 19 core and menu objectives and prompts providers with live statistics and guidelines to resolve problems before patients are discharged. All of Prognosis HIS’ clients plan to demonstrate stage one meaningful use requirements again in 2013 and stage two meaningful use requirements in 2014.

Brian Miller, CEO of Dallas County Memorial Center in Fordyce, Ark., selected Prognosis HIS’ EHR to implement and activate in time to meet the fiscal year deadline. “We thought that if purchasing an EHR quickly, the turnaround on our investment would be faster than waiting for 2013. For a critical access hospital, funding is extremely important. We found the best solution through Prognosis HIS.”

Continuing, Miller said, “Prognosis’ meaningful use consultants were on top of the job with our daily check list from the beginning, which proved vital to our success. Prognosis has been down this road before. They understand health reform and the pieces and parts that make up meaningful use. It creates for a mutually accountable relationship. Our physicians have used the EHR since go-live.”

“The second year wasn’t stressful at all. With year one, we were learning the system and attesting at the same time. We all felt the pressure to attest,” said Joy Henry, chief nursing officer at Faith Community Hospital in Jacksboro, Texas. “In the second year, we fully understood the meaningful use objectives and the system. It became more like maintenance. Prognosis HIS’ system guides us through documentation and alerts us to what needs to be done. When all of your team is using it, completing the objectives becomes more like second nature.”

“Helping our eligible hospital clients achieve meaningful use is a significant company milestone,” said Ramsey Evans, CEO of Prognosis HIS. “Our nation’s rural and critical access hospitals are the primary provider of health care services in their local communities. We’re proud to support their mission to advance patient care with our easy-to-use Web-native technology, comprehensive training background, strong expert guidance and committed partnership.”

Continued Evans, “Year two attestations truly showcased the usability of our EHR. Feedback from our clients who attested early and used it successfully for 365 days demonstrates we’re on the right track, providing the best overall system functionality.”
