Central Desktop Backs THE Breast Cancer Fundraiser's Nationwide Efforts with Product Donation

Central Desktop announced it is donating its online collaboration service platform to THE Breast Cancer Fundraiser and KaptureVision, a national event planning firm that plans and executes fundraising events around the country.

According to a release, through its CD Gives initiative, Central Desktop helps nonprofits connect to their communities and improve communication within their organizations in an effort to allow them to focus on their causes and less on team and volunteer management.

THE Breast Cancer Fundraiser is an organization whose primary focus is to promote philanthropic involvement among a generation of young professionals ranging in age from 21 to 35. The team accomplishes its mission through organizing nationwide events that honor breast cancer survivors and fighters and help raise money for local breast cancer organizations, some of which are affiliates of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The nonprofit advocates the importance of value-added services to newly diagnosed and young breast cancer patients and families and joins with corporate partners whose passion for young professionals match THE Breast Cancer Fundraiser’s mission.

“With so many projects going at once and multiple events booked in cities across the country, we will use Central Desktop as a way to understand what each team member is working on, share files and work together on projects,” said Nilo G, founder of THE Breast Cancer Fundraiser. “We have so many moving parts – from calling on sponsors to raffle and donation items to negotiating contracts with vendors – and Central Desktop will help us stay more organized, increase efficiency and ultimately raise more money for this cause.”

“We are thrilled to donate our service to a company that influences so much of what drives the breast cancer awareness movement by bringing people with common interests together in their local communities,” said Isaac Garcia, CEO and co-founder of Central Desktop. “We are confident that through the use of Central Desktop, THE Breast Cancer Fundraiser will be more successful than ever and will meet their goal of reaching more than 20 metropolitan cities by 2015.”

Exinda: Presenting Effective WAN Optimization

Most companies today face severe performance issues due to traffic congestion in their Wide Area Network (WAN).

Large corporations and multinational companies may be able to afford to buy more equipment and increase bandwidth but SMBs do not have this luxury. Still, this is a very expensive option over the long term and if there is a cost-effective alternative even the large corporations can save valuable resources by implementing a smarter solution. Exinda provides solutions that enable network managers to address these and other challenges, helps maximize network resources, control operational costs, and improve the user experience.

Founded in 2002, Exinda is headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, and is led by technology industry veteran Michael Sharma. The company’s Unified Performance Management (UPM) approach applies to each of its WAN optimization solutions. Its solutions are built ‘from the ground up’ on an industry standard platform that fully integrates all of the elements required to manage its client’s network amidst the fast – changing IT landscape. With UPM, its clients has full visibility into every application traversing their network, who is using it, where it is originating from, how much bandwidth it is consuming, which user, device or element on the network is using the application and more.

“The growing number, complexity and bandwidth demands of applications today means that network managers need to make smarter decisions to manage their networks. It is no longer enough to blindly accelerate all of the traffic in your network, nor to simply monitor usage to justify bandwidth upgrades,” says Sharma, CEO, Exinda.

Each its appliance is backed by a comprehensive technical support program delivered by Exinda and its global network of distributors and resellers. “Exinda Direct” offers on-demand support and services including pre and post-sales technical support and customer enablement on a 24/7 basis. HiSoftware’s Compliance, Security

There’s more good news for SharePoint users this week from HiSoftware. Use of SharePoint as an enterprise CMS platform has reached upward of 70%. The content compliance issues are huge, which makes the release of HiSoftware’s Security Sheriff SP and the upgrade of its compliance offering timely.

HiSoftware says it has addressed concerns by integrating its upgraded and new software with and within SharePoint 2010. This means that it audits data for compliance with privacy, information security, accessibility, site quality and brand integrity.

Within both sets of software there are checkpoints built into the proprietary rules engine for this, such as HIPAA and FISMA, and the capability to scan documents moving in and out of the environments to catch policy violations and reclassify offending content with the addition of new SharePoint metadata.

SharePoint Governance Strategy

If you didn’t see it earlier in the week, Symon Garfield of ICS solutions continues his series on SharePoint with a discussion around SharePoint governance. A robust SharePoint governance model should address three key elements:

  • Strategy
  • Business change
  • IT Operations

Strategy is concerned with the accountability for the SharePoint business case. It defines the scope of SharePoint’s use, links use to organizational objectives and defines success measures and the means by which they are monitored and reported.
