Mashery Positioned in the “Visionaries” Quadrant of the Magic Quadrant for SOA Governance Technologies

Mashery, a leading provider of API (Application Programming Interface) management technology and services, today announced today it has been positioned by Gartner, Inc. in the “Visionaries” quadrant of the “Magic Quadrant for SOA Governance Technologies.”1

To be considered for this Magic Quadrant, vendors “must market comprehensive technology for SOA (service oriented architecture) governance policy management, and/or around registries and repositories across the artifact (service or other type of reusable) life cycle, from planning through design, operation, maintenance and retirement.” Gartner defines a visionary in this category as a company that can “typically approach this market with a fresh view from an innovative angle, and are big into the cloud. When they typically feature an incomplete set of functionality, they have power and the mind share to grow that set for the customers to come, often in a different way from established Leaders; visionaries carry no baggage. In a market stretched by several waves of transformation (cloud, the increased maturity of clients, the changing concept of application, different development styles, evolving organizational arrangements, ever-growing B2B multi-enterprise process requirements, to name a few), most future Leaders will be former Visionaries.”

“Mashery is thrilled to see Gartner acknowledge the importance of API management in the enterprise agenda,” said Oren Michels, Co-Founder and CEO of Mashery. “This reaffirms our view that the future of digital business lies in embracing an API strategy. As APIs evolve from read to write to commerce-enabled, they’re becoming a pervasive, powerful channel through which companies can interact with their constituencies. The close collaboration we see between IT and business in leveraging fundamental business opportunities through API initiatives is key to achieving success,” continued Michels.

Sedgwick County Health Center Selects Prognosis HIS HER

The rush to qualify for electronic health records adoption funds makes following the crowd a tempting choice but not necessarily the right one.

Instead of implementing the same system that other providers in rural Colorado are using, Sedgwick County Health Center extensively evaluated other options and chose to go with an electronic health record (EHR) solution from Prognosis Health Information Systems.

“There is a lot of pressure around here to do what everyone else does. But we decided that we needed to really do our homework and pick the system that would ultimately best fit our hospital,” said David Garnas, CEO at Sedgwick, a 12-bed hospital located in Julesburg, a Colorado town with a population of about 1500. “So, we evaluated systems based on workflow, ease of use and incentive fund reimbursement criteria.”

A steering committee that included representatives from across the hospital compared proposals from seven EHR vendors that serve the rural and community hospital market. From there, two vendors were invited to provide demonstrations to the executives and clinical users at Sedgwick.

The ease of use and intuitiveness of the ChartAccess® Comprehensive EHR from Prognosis HIS piqued the selection committee’s interest. Built as a “disruptive innovation,” the solution provides a viable alternative to other options by providing a platform that helps community hospitals overcome the cost, speed of implementation, and usability obstacles commonly cited as impediments to electronic records success.

A shared web-native EHR system delivered via a cloud computing model, ChartAccess software applications are made available as a service over an encrypted health information network. The system’s built in analytics and health information exchange (HIE) capabilities help hospitals provide consistent, high-quality patient care.

The fact that Prognosis has implemented many of these systems in less than 120 days – and has already helped 14 healthcare providers meet meaningful use sealed the deal, according to Garnas.

“The ability to utilize an online dashboard to track and direct progress toward meaningful use is something that is really important to us because we are looking to quickly qualify for the government’s incentive funds. We realize that Prognosis really excels at helping hospitals leverage this tool to bring about meaningful use,” Garnas said.

Sedgwick is planning to go-live on the system in February, completing implementation within 120 days and then attest to meaningful use to qualify for its share of the government’s $27 billion in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act incentive monies.

“Our success is proving that we are offering a true innovation that the market really needs. Our EHR is making it possible for hospitals that might have previously been left on the sidelines to not only join the digital revolution but to become leaders in healthcare IT,” saidRamsey Evans, CEO of Prognosis Health Information Systems. “Our powerful solution provides advanced functionality along with an implementation approach that is enabling rural and community hospitals to fully leverage the power of technology, and, more importantly, to improve the care and service that they deliver to their communities.”

About Prognosis Health Information Systems

Prognosis Health Information Systems (PHIS), Houston, is committed to utilizing advanced 21st-Century technologies to help healthcare providers significantly improve the quality, safety and efficiency of patient care while also achieving better financial results. PHIS enables rural and community hospitals to utilize pure browser-based electronic health record (EHR) and financial systems designed to be fully operational in less than six months at a predictable, affordable cost. Cloud-Based Medical Billing Software Company Kareo Launches Electronic Patient Statements & Payment Portal for Medical Practices

Kareo, Inc., the leading provider of easy and affordable cloud-based practice management and medical billing software for physicians in the United States, announced today the launch of electronic patient statements and payment portal.

The new capabilities equip medical practices to accelerate cash flow through comprehensive credit card, debit card, check processing, secure electronic patient statement delivery, and online bill pay.   These tools get the medical office paid faster while giving patients more convenient ways to pay, whether at their doctor’s office or from the comfort of their homes.

“The rapid increase in medical costs paid out-of-pocket by patients is now resulting in a cash flow crisis for small medical practices,” says Dan Rodrigues, the founder and CEO of Kareo.  “By making it easy and affordable to accept credit and debit card payments, send electronic patient statements, and give patients the option to pay online, we are helping medical practices take control of their growing patient receivables in order to get paid faster and more efficiently.”

Here is how it works:  Medical office staff captures patient email addresses during registration.  During check out, patient copays can be processed via credit card, debit card, or check transaction in the office.  The insurance company is billed and any remaining patient balance is billed to the patient via an email notification.  Patients click through the email notification to view their bill online and conveniently make an online payment.  If a payment is not made online promptly, the patient will automatically receive a printed statement in the mail with options for making a payment online, by phone, by mail or at the medical office.  At any time, the medical practice is able to process credit cards, debit cards, and check transactions in their office or on the phone.  With pricing for the entire service at less than a dollar per day plus competitive transaction and statement fees, medical practices will experience cost savings as well as significant improvements in managing the patient-due receivables.

The shifting economics toward more patient-funded healthcare is fueling the need for tools to simplify the patient payment process. In just three years, the average medical practice has seen a 50% increase in revenue dependency from money owed to them by patients.  These patient responsible funds used to account for about 20% of the revenue and now are tracking at 30% or more as the prevalence of high-deductible plans, greater co-insurance, and under insured scenarios increase.  Medical practices simply cannot afford to overlook technology advancements aimed at aggressive, proactive management of patient-due receivables.

This announcement continues Kareo’s commitment to providing solutions to solve business problems faced by small medical practices in partnership with leading healthcare solutions companies.  The online statements, payment portal, and payment processing for Kareo’s medical billing software are powered by InstaMed, the leading Healthcare Payments Network for secure and compliant healthcare and payment transactions for providers, patients, and payers.

Exinda Targets Accelerated UK Growth Via Channel Revamp

Exinda, a global provider of WAN optimization solutions incorporating Unified Performance Management, today added further momentum to its UK market push with the launch of its new Partner Program and the appointment of several key personnel to its UK sales and technical teams.

The move comes amid increasing enterprise demand for Exinda’s next generation WAN optimization technology and growing interest from resellers looking for a differentiated, high margin proposition to take to market.

The new Partner Program sees the creation of a Platinum Partner status aimed at a select number of value added resellers that want to commit and invest in building successful business revenues with Exinda. The plan is to recruit a total of up to 10 Platinum partners by the end of the year. Benefits of the Platinum Partner status include increased margin; deal registration; lead generation; sales and technical training; joint marketing; technical services and support. Exinda is also evaluating its existing Gold partners as part of a review to establish a more committed and focused business relationship with partners moving forward.

“We are fully committed to a two-tier channel model in the UK and have a proven distribution partner in VADition/Exclusive Networks,” explained Adam Davison, Exinda’s VP Sales EMEA. “We are now looking to aggressively recruit a select number of value added resellers as Platinum partners. These partners will live and breathe our Unified Performance Management story and have the skills to fully capitalize on the only truly integrated visibility, QoS and acceleration platform in the market, as well as our unique video caching capabilities. We’re ideally placed in this burgeoning market opportunity for next generation WAN optimization as enterprises look to realize the benefits of Cloud, SaaS, video and Web 2.0 applications.”

To support the growing UK business and enhanced channel model Exinda has made a number of key personnel appointments to its UK sales and technical support teams. David Richards (ex Blue Coat, Packeteer, Juniper) and Rob Marshall (ex Bluefort) have been appointed as Regional Sales Managers for the North & Scotland and the South & Ireland respectively. Louise Robson has also joined the sales team from Riverbed to take up an inside sales role responsible for driving lead generation activities.

“There are fantastic opportunities for Exinda resellers in the UK market,” commented Neil Ledger, joint CEO of VADition, part of the Exclusive Networks Group. “It is growing revenues worldwide, year-on-year, at a rate consistently above 100%, and recently reported revenue growth of over 49% for the three months ended September 30, 2011, compared with the same period in 2010. Much of this is fuelled by the expansion of its sales and support capabilities in markets like the UK.”

Exinda’s technical team has also been boosted by the appointments of Simon Jackson as SE Director EMEA and Tim Reeve as SE for the UK. With previous experience gained at Websense, Blue Coat and Packeteer the appointments further enhance Exinda’s pre sales and technical support capabilities.

“We have assembled a stellar team of people that have proven track records, pedigree and credibility in the market. They have all achieved high levels of success at competitive organizations and it is testament to Exinda’s technology, industry vision and market proposition that they have decided to switch allegiances away from these legacy vendors in favor of our next generation WAN optimization approach”, concluded Davison.
