A Recount of the Origin of ‘Do More Faster’

November 17, 2010

Productivity constraints at a business usually concern delivering on a short period of time.

That’s the proverbial challenge, doing more with less. Or in this case, doing more faster. At a startup, this should always be your main concern. Startups move at a million miles per hour. They can be born overnight, but they can fade out just as quickly. Release planning is one area where doing more faster can be most beneficial. You want quick iterations whenever possible. And this principal is the perfect catalyst for this.

Scaling a business, especially a startup, needs to be done with speed. On the door of the CEO of TechStar’s office is a sign that reads “Do more faster.” And there is a tradition in the company to physically slap the sign, acknowledging its importance and relevance. This is the sort of thought leadership that reverberates throughout a company.

Certainly, the productivity associated with doing more faster can be a boost to any company that buys into the mantra. Watch this video by OpenView Labs for more information on this topic.
