Addressing the Need to Sustain Employee Motivation
June 7, 2011
Keeping your employees motivated is a double-edged sword.
On one side, when you encounter lulls in performance, these can often be attributed to motivational lapses. Resolving these issues comes down to infusing more incentives into the workplace, thereby increasing motivation. Order is then restored. On the other hand, when you’re constantly encountering motivational issues, this could be a byproduct of your personnel — which is a separate problem.
No matter how it’s accomplished, motivation is something that needs to be readily present in the workplace. According to Dr. John Sullivan, a human resources specialist, human resource management teams should be created in order to keep employees motivated, year-round. Whether this entails work flexibility, employee development or any other non-compensation form of motivation, is up to HR.
This sort of investment in motivation should also have a pronounced impact on employee retention, too. For more information on employee motivation, watch the video featuring Dr. Sullivan.
