American Idol

March 17, 2010

My American Idol favorite for this year is Casey James, love his bluesy voice, think he is the only one who possesses the talent to go on tour now.

As I was watching the judges critique each performance last night it reminded me of OpenView’s investment process.

OpenView has a pipeline of expansion stage companies looking for investors similar to the top 12 contestants looking for a record deal in American Idol. At the end of the day both sides are vying for a contract. Like Simon, Randy, Kara and Ellen we spend time each week evaluating what company out there has the potential to become the next big star. And on a weekly basis we have management teams presenting their stories to OpenView and upon finishing, the OpenView team votes on who stays and who goes home (it’s never dramatic and we don’t play somber music upon a company not moving forward a la Idol).

Stay tuned as we count down the contestants and the companies.

Seacrest out.

…I’m working on the Ryan Seacrest similarities but can’t find any yet.
