B2B Social Media: Optimizing Flickr for SEO

March 7, 2011

Most people who use Flickr probably don’t care about the SEO implications, but if you are in charge of B2B Social media at your organization, it should be on your to-do list (it is currently on mine!).

By following these 4 steps, you can ensure that all of your corporate photos will perform better in the search engines:

  1. Use the person’s full name in the photo title, for example, “Corey O’Loughlin at the forum”
  2. Use the individual’s full name in the description “Corey O’Loughlin listens intently”
  3. Tag each name separately (first, last) “Corey” and “O’Loughlin”
  4. Tag the full name “Corey O’Loughlin”

Here is a completed example from our Flickr page: http://cot.ag/if5cdX

One last tip: To be sure you are driving website traffic, include a link to your website in the comments section that is relevant to the photo!

This is a great intern project and a good way to improve your online marketing strategy through simple SEO tricks!

Do you have photos on Flickr?
