March 29, 2010

A few weeks ago, Cloudmark, a provider of messaging security solutions raised $23 million in venture funding from Summit Partners and Nokia’s corporate venture capital arm Nokia Growth Partners. Venture capital firms Ignition Partners and Industry Ventures, who invested in 2004, also participated in the round. Cloudmark sells the very popular Cloudmark for Desktop, which is an effective spam-blocker for Outlook and Outlook Express. Cloudmark claims to protect over one billion inboxes in 190 countries across the world (if you aren’t counting the Vatican, Taiwan and Kosovo as countries, Cloudmark is only missing two UN member states). Over 75% of the major service providers in the US and Japan are among Cloudmark customers. Cloudmark plans to use the expansion capital for ongoing development and expansion of its already impressive customer base.
