Do You Know how to Find and Hire Great People?

May 4, 2011

Hiring great people isn’t as much of a best practices process as it is a state of mind.

It’s about an unwavering commitment to filtering out the top talent that fits within your company strategy. Not every 4.0 student from an Ivy League school will be an ideal candidate for your company. When technical competence is assumed, the rest comes down to candidate’s personality.

At IDEO, every applicant needs to be “lunched” by 10 people. That means 10 current employees will need to give that person a glowing review; and they know what the company is looking for. This way, hopeful candidates are being vouched for in order to ensure that they’re capable of transitioning into the company culture.

No matter which method you choose to find great people, make sure that you’re actively searching. It’s vital to every company’s business growth strategies. For more information on getting the top talent, watch the video featuring David Kelley.
