Driving Innovation within Your Company
March 17, 2011
No company can survive without innovating.
At some point, whether at the founding of the company or at a later date, every company must innovate. It’s simply necessary to the company strategy, and without it, most companies would be surpassed by the competition. Innovation can breathe new life into a company that may be struggling.
Facebook has a unique take on this idea. They run regularly scheduled hack-a-thons to promote innovation in the company. They let their engineers create whatever they want. Innovation has a trickle-down effect on every facet of an operation; consider the benefit to the marketing strategy, for example. Let’s say that a company has just introduced a new feature in their software that’s groundbreaking. The marketing department can take that and run with it, using it to attract new customers. And that’s just the beginning.
Judging by the success of Facebook, it seems that innovation does play a role in success, too. For more on this subject, watch the video featuring Mark Zuckerberg.
