Founders: Learn to Sell Your Product

September 20, 2011

Sometimes selling is an art lost on the founders of a company, says serial entrepreneur Steve Blank in this short video.

But when that’s the case, it means the founders of a company — those that are responsible for taking it from the startup to expansion stage — don’t sufficiently understand the one thing that will be decide whether or not they’re able to grow. A founder that can’t extract crucial concepts from basic sales principles is unlikely to be able to implement those same ideas into the company and products being created, Blank says.

He believes that, especially in the early days, eliminating this gap should be a top priority for founders. Blank says the quickest way to do this is to sit down and digest the main concepts of sales: what motivates buyers; how do they buy; how should a sales plan be crafted?

But that’s not all. For more from Blank, watch the full video and check out our exclusive Q&A.
