FourSquare – The Latest Venture Capital Success Story!
February 2, 2010
FourSquare is just one of the latest reminders of how an expansion stage software company with fun and clever online applications can grow virally and hit success shortly after raising venture capital funding. Foursquare raised $1.35 Million in September of last year. At that time the company had a mere 40,000 user accounts. Today, 6 months later, the company stands at 300,000 users and just signed a deal with NBC for a show on the Bravo channel. To me this is another success story where venture funding helped a company with a great product reach success faster.
FourSquare allows its users to track the places they frequent, receive badges along the way, and even become virtual “mayors” of a location if they top the most frequent visitors list. This fun social tool allows its users to keep track of each other and recommend places to see and things to try.
