How to Record 48 Videos in 2 Hours
October 26, 2010
Yes friends, you read that right. This morning I recorded 48 videos in 2 hours with the dynamic and talented Joe Pulizzi, founder of Junta42 and the Content Marketing Institute. We discussed everything from B2B Social Media and driving website traffic to the importance of an online marketing strategy. In the short time span of 2 hours, we recorded 48 videos!
Here are a few tips for cranking out content when you schedule a video session:
- Devise a list of questions in advance and share it with the on camera principal (OCP) ahead of time. This gives your OCP time to review the questions and mentally prepare.
- Hold a discussion with your OCP about the ideal length of the videos prior to getting in front of the camera. For our shoot, the ideal length was 60 seconds, which made it easier to record a lot of content. If the OCP is unsure of the ideal length, you may need to edit a lot of extra footage later…which is a waste of your time as well as the OCP’s time.
- Be sure your OCP is comfortable in front of the camera and they know their stuff! You may not have to worry about these issues with an expert like Joe, but those with less experience require more coaching and more downtime during a shoot.
- Have fun with it! I know the best work is done when individuals are enjoying themselves…or at least when they are not miserable. Sure, by video 30 everyone is a bit worse for the wear, but do your best to keep spirits high in the recording session.
The best part of it all? Joe was gracious enough to record two podcasts with us as well! Talk about a productive morning!
