Human Resources Policies are a Must for Growing Companies

December 27, 2010

How does an employee know what’s expected of them in the workplace if it’s not outlined in clear detail?

A human resources policy that detail hours, payments, performance expectations and everything else pertaining to the business’s operations is a must-have for growing technology companies. An employee may have leftover bad habits from a previous position that don’t lend themselves to the work that’s performed at their new position. A human resource policy expedites employee development and is a benchmark for grading your employees.

Accountability is also an added benefit of having such a policy. If there is a mistake made or an employee is continuously going against your company strategy, your policy will likely have something outlined within it explaining the potential actions that can be taken in such a situation – all of which are legal.

For newer companies specifically, a policy can ease the pains of startup recruitment. Watch the full video from OpenView Labs for more on this legal issue.
