I would have found this valuable in college

March 24, 2010

I remember being a senior in college and wrestling with graduation and the upcoming “real world”, how dreadful it was. Trying to figure out what job was right for me and how was I going to get it were constant wake up in the middle of the night cold sweating nightmares.

I just got off the phone with an Oregon based company called Zumeo. Their CEO Jared Booye along with his management team are solving a huge pain point. Their company description is below:

Zumeo is a career discovery tool and professional social network. Build a Live Resume, discover your strengths through our assessment tool, and get matched to relevant jobs. Then get connected with your friends, colleagues, and other people who can help you in your career.

Zumeo partners with universities to help them engage students and increase placement efficiency. We help employers leverage social media and mobile technology to increase their talent pool as well as provide job seekers with a relevant job hunting and professional networking platform.

Most college students I remember who didn’t have a job right out of college spent a lot of time on Craigslist, Monster.com or CareerBuilder.com sorting through what seemed like a lot of spam. Zumeo uses social networks to help refer individuals and get them in the door. It also acts as a community to help teach, learn and motivate one another.
