Intro to the Gatekeeper

September 30, 2009

My name is Katie Cohen-Hausman and I started working at OpenView Venture Partners, a Boston Venture Capital Firm, in November of 2006. I had started my career at Baker Brothers Investments, a small private equity investment firm in Manhattan. I worked as a junior executive assistant to the 2 partners and gained a great deal of experience in how to handle multiple tasks in a very fast paced environment. From there, I moved on to Lehman Brothers, also in Manhattan, working as an executive assistant in their asset backed securities division. I supported a Managing Director who taught me even more about supporting an executive in the fast paced world of finance. When I moved to Boston in 2006, I was looking to continue working within the finance industry but wanted to go back to a smaller firm. I found OpenView Venture Partners and knew I had found a home.

At OpenView, I have truly grown as an executive assistant. I have been given tasks that I did not think I was capable of. I will touch on my experiences in future blogs.

The belief here is that you will make mistakes but the people that will be successful are the ones that embrace the mistakes and learn from them. With every mistake, you find a new way not to do it and are forced to figure out a better way.

I am looking forward to blogging more about being an EA at a Venture Capital Firm, specifically at OpenView.
