On February 23rd, Redmond, WA-based Smilebox announced in its press release that it raised $2 million as a follow on to the $7 million in Series B round of venture capital investment it raised in December 2007. The additional venture funding was provided by Bessemer Venture Partners and the existing investor that led the second round Frazier Technology Ventures. Smilebox is a photo services company that helps consumers share pictures and videos across social media and blogs, edit and print photos through retail chains, and create greeting cards and DVDs with their files. According to xconomi.com about 10 million customers use Smilebox and the 1,000 original templates the company provides for designing scrapbooks, photo albums, etc. The CEO of the company Andrew Wright confirmed that the expansion capital will be used to promote the company’s services in Europe, starting with the U.K., Germany and France.
