October 21, 2010

Today marks the final day for MassChallenge where 26 finalists will present to a panel of venture capital advisors, leading executives from experienced management teams and other industry “influentials”. The finalists will have a chance to be selected as one of 10 winners who will split a pool of $1 million to grow their business. For more information on MassChallenge, go to the following website (you can also see a list of all the entrants).

I had the pleasure of personally judging the last round and I am looking forward to seeing who makes the top 10. It’s great to see programs like this provide entrepreneurs with operational support and financial assistance to launch their new ideas. Kudos to John Harthorne and Akhil Nigam for starting the initiative.

About MassChallenge:

MassChallenge is running the world’s largest startup competition and accelerator to catalyze the launch and success of high-growth, high-impact new businesses. The first contest launched on April 14, 2010 with a total prize pool of $1 Million, and received ~450 entries by the application deadline on June 11. Expert judges from the ecosystem helped to identify the highest-impact, highest-potential startups and more than 100 startups then received 3 months of intensive mentorship and other resources completely free of charge, including office space, legal support and targeted introductions to customers and funding sources. The entrants will be narrowed down to 10 winners who will split a pool of $1M to help them continue the growth of their business.
