Only Action and Inaction Count, Trying Doesn’t

Fans of Star Wars can attest: Yoda is filled with sage advice.

In this video, Brad Feld says as much. He explains the philosophical explanation behind avoiding wasteful attempts in a business. As an entrepreneur, you should never try to do something. You must choose one of two paths: action or inaction. That’s essentially what Feld eludes to: there is no middle ground. You must be either invested or out of the fold.

By choosing to try a half-baked attempt, you’re just putting off the inevitable decision to become dedicated to something. It’s just a delayed decision of sorts. And that tends to get businesses in trouble.

Being proactive is a valuable trait for entrepreneurs. As are a host of other skills that either get ignored or undervalued when someone is stuck between action and inaction. For this reason, one should never just try; not with social media, your marketing strategy or battling against your competition. Don’t try. Do. Watch the full video starring Brad Feld for more on this subject.
