Skype founders raise VC fund

March 22, 2010

The news is out today that Skype founders Niklas Zennström and Janus Friis have raised a $165 million venture capital fund to focus on start-up technology companies selling to consumers and small businesses in Europe. The fund is called Atomico II.

Specifically, they want to invest into software businesses that do not need a lot of investment to ramp sales and marketing.

In that respect, this strategy is similar to that of OpenView Venture Partners, which also seeks out capital efficient sales and marketing models and business growth strategies, though we invest at the expansion stage rather than start-up.

Best of luck guys!
