The ideal startup employee isn’t going to prioritize money before other factors, as the panelists in this short video explain. If you’re continually interviewing employees that don’t fall into this mold, you could be looking at the wrong employees.
Your competitors, especially if you’re in a crowded marketplace, will always be able to out-bid you for employees; the secret is to not get into a bidding war, the panel agrees. Company culture can be very attractive to many startup employee candidates, but having a culture that values individual voices and rewards extraordinary effort can be more alluring than money.
