What You can Learn from Zappos’ Core Values

August 18, 2010

Core values go beyond the day-to-day dealings of a business.

They permeate everything that the company and its employees do. From day one, these values have been passed down from the CEO to all of the employees. The business is founded on these values. At Zappos, this is especially true. The company has 10 core values that they base their business on. Here are a few:

  • “Pursue growth and learning.”
  • “Be humble.”
  • “Be adventurous, creative and open-minded.”
  • “Be passionate and determined.”
  • “Do more with less.”

Core values also give people an indicator of what a company is like. Additionally, core values can greatly influence corporate culture, which is ever-important. Zappos isn’t unlike other companies in that it has core values. It’s just that the core values have stuck and remained important at Zappos as the company grew.
