A Humorous Look at Management Versus Leadership

March 7, 2011

At their cores, leadership and management are fundamentally different principles.

When you consider the qualities of a good manager, in terms of operational management, they can be distinctly different than that of a leader. A leader pulls the subordinates along. A manager can sometimes push, sometimes pull and sometimes a mixture of both. When left alone, a manager may struggle to execute, whereas a leader has all of the knowledge necessary to succeed already.

It’s the inherent understanding that separates the two. Leaders know how to deliver on the company strategy. They don’t need itemized business growth strategies to guide them. They have a nose for it.

In most scenarios, a leader will be more coveted than a manager. The latter are a dime a dozen. But leaders are a much rarer breed. For more about the differences between leaders and managers, watch the video from helpmelead.tv.
