Startup Recruitment: The Best Seattle Universities to Hire From

When it comes to hiring entry-level tech talent, local universities are prime recruiting targets. If you’re a startup in the Seattle area, here are the schools to set your sights on.

It’s becoming more and more prevalent that Seattle’s is a tech and startup scene on the rise. If you need proof, take a look at these articles from TechCrunch and the New York Times. With more and more tech companies in the city, talent is in demand, and what better place for local companies to look than the colleges and universities in their own backyard? Here are a few to start with.

1) University of Washington

University of Washington: With almost 29,000 undergraduate students right in Seattle, UW is one of the first schools you should target. 10% the graduates obtain Business, Management, Marketing or related degrees while Engineering comes in almost as high at 9% (they offer 27 engineering majors)! 2) Gonzaga University

Ranked #4 regionally, Gonzaga has almost 5,000 undergraduate students; 24% graduate with a business degree while 10% of graduates are from engineering. Get started recruiting at Gonzaga here.


3) Seattle Pacific University

SPU is a slightly smaller school, at just over 3000 undergraduate students, they are ranked #14 regionally. They offer many resources for both students and employers to use, including the Center for Career and Calling to assist with the job search. 4) Seattle University

Located right downtown with more than 4500 undergraduate students (25% of which will graduate with a business degree and 5% with engineering), Seattle University is ranked #6 regionally. Additionally, 2/3 of the student population volunteers, a great trait in an intern! Employers can get started here, whether to simply post an internship or full time opportunity or to become a member of the Redhawk Premier Employer Program.
