Critical Tips for Suceeding in Social Media

March 29, 2010

Last week Mashable released an article on “13 Essential Social Media Lessons for B2B Marketers from the Masters.” The list include quotes from Chris Brogan, Seth Godin, Rohit Bhargava, and Brian Solis about topics like influence marketing, content marketing, and social media. Check out the post for the full list of advice.

Expansion stage companies can follow these social media lessons from the masters as well as keeping the following key tips in mind:

  • Always set goals or have a well-defined strategy before engaging in any new marketing tactic.
  • Focus on your customers. It is better to do some planning and take your customers’ preferences into account. For example, if they aren’t on Facebook, you shouldn’t be on Facebook.
  • Keep an open mind and think outside of the box. Social media is meant to connect your company or brand with your customers, so have fun with it.
