When this day comes, it’s often too late. Being forced to change your sales methodologies by outside forces means that you’ve already lost your edge. To keep your competitive advantage, you must continually adapt to new, proven sales methods. Sales strategist Jeffrey Gitomer points out that even when empirical feedback shows that certain sales strategies have exceeded their usefulness, they continue to be utilized by some salespeople.

Sales strategies don’t stay en vogue forever. Being familiar with what today’s sales marketplace demands is part of being a dedicated salesperson. It does take more effort, admits Gitomer, but it also pays more dividends.
