Why You Should Involve Great Mentors with Your Company

January 5, 2011

The right mentorship can have tremendous benefits to a company, helping it better align and execute its business growth strategies.

A mentor with valuable knowledge of a particular market segment can parlay that experience and information to provide insights to a company, saving them time, manpower and money. By engaging these mentors, you’re opening yourself up to such opportunities.

It’s also important that the people you do bring into the fold are dedicated to the work. You shouldn’t invite mentors in that only intend to deliver a speech and move on. The relationship shouldn’t be a distraction to the regular operations of the business; it should be integrated into the overall company strategy.

As part of your employee development goals, you need to bring in the sort of guidance that will propel and inspire your staff. Many mentors have been in your shoes before and can teach you how to traverse the path you’re on. Watch the full video by OpenView Labs with Brad Feld for more information on mentoring.
