SXSW: Where is there Room for Improvement?

While technology buffs will maintain that scrutinizing SXSW is sacrilege, there are some areas the event could improve in.

One of the major gripes aired about SXSW is that it was overwhelming. This isn’t to say there were organizational issues, but rather, there was too much going on from a content strategy perspective. When an event is too busy, the overarching message gets jumbled by the lights and sites.

Another problem with SXSW was that, while there certainly was a large quantity of events, some of them lacked quality. This was caused by unprepared speakers that may not necessarily have the thought leadership needed to be speaking at such an event.

Overall, the event was not without flaw, but it still provided plenty of knowledge to attendees. As for improvements, there’s always next year. For more on this subject, watch the video from OpenView Labs featuring Tyson Goodridge.
