Verifone’s PAYware – another app for credit card swipes

March 23, 2010

How many times have you wanted a lemonade, necklace or access to a sporting event and you didn’t have cash? If you’re anything like me, this happens almost every time!

In my last blog for OpenView Venture Partners, an expansion stage venture capital firm in Boston, I wrote about mobile phones accepting credit card donations. Now Verifone, a secure leader in electronic payments, has released PAYware Mobile, another iphone app targeted at the SMB merchants. For example, how many times have you seen merchants at craft fairs, etc. lose sales because they do not accept credit cards? A LOT.

The device acts as a link connecting the retailer, bank and payment processor for the settlement of credit and debit card transaction. Now that this technology has arrived, it is hard to picture a world without it!
